Is the Nikon D700 still relevant in 2024? Are there better cameras for the same price? Find out about my perspective on this awesome DSLR.
Internet is a great thing. It can provide us with all sorts of information and even guide us in our daily challenges. But on the other side, because it is so huge, it can also confuse us and make us believe in something which is far from our truth. It happened with me and it happened with many of us.
Why am I writing about this? Because the Internet influenced me a whole lot during my photography journey.
Before buying any photography gear, I was checking Google, Youtube, Reddit, you name it.
The Search
The obsession with getting the best possible gear on the market today – it’s probably a feeling many of us can identify with – basically, it says: I am not enough, my inspiration and talent are not enough. And with this in mind, we think that our gear can ‘save’ us and make us ‘pros’.
This disease had taken over me, especially during COVID. I was searching and searching, reducing my time taking pictures. After going through this search, I found that to take great photos, you don’t have to buy the latest, more expensive camera and lens. This is how I found the Nikon D700!
This 12-megapixel full-frame DSLR is a monster! (in a good way). I paired it with Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D and paid around 500 USD for both – ain’t that a bargain 🙂
My first impressions are:
- the lively, true to life colors
- the ease of use – this is a photography only camera, with no video options
- the build-in quality – it’s built like a tank!
- last but not least – the image quality!
I decided to write this article as I am excited about the results of this almost 14-year-old camera! I plan to shoot mainly portraits and headshots with it, so stay tuned.
Final Thoughts
Last week I did a short photo walk with it and here are the results. What do you think about this dinosaur-like camera? Let me know in the comments below. 🙂
Cheers!
